As a matter of fact, they are also delicious for school and work lunches or anytime you want something delicately sweet, without guilt. Magic Matcha Bars are vegan, gluten-free and oil free.
Magic matcha bars are delicately sweet and have a nice balance between the naturally sweet bananas, unami flavor of the matcha green tea, nutty flavor of the almonds and the in season strawberry sweetness.

The season is really short so it is a good thing that these Magic Matcha Bars are so easy to make.
One of my favorite healthy bloggers is Arman from Big Man’s World as he makes all of these delicious healthy bars and one of my favorite is his Healthy 3 Ingredient Flourless Blender Brownies. Seriously it is like magic! Just frozen bananas, a nut butter of choice and unsweetened cocoa powder. How cool is that!!! I have no idea why it needs to be frozen bananas but you can ask Arman. I say why modify something so delicious and it works and it meets all of our families’ dietary needs.
However, whenever the Hanami (Sakara- cherry blossom season) comes to full bloom I just crave matcha. Maybe it is spring in the air or maybe my body is telling me I need some extra antioxidants but I deeply crave matcha. Matcha is stone ground Japanese green tea. Did you know that just one cup of matcha tea is equivalent to the antioxidants of drinking 10 cups of regular green tea.
Strawberries and matcha are a match made in heaven so I adorned my bars with a few slices of strawberry flowers. I also threw in a handful of vegan white chocolate chips as matcha, strawberries and white chocolate are the 3 flavors that remind me of spring in Japan.
Now you may be wondering why are my bars a light brown color instead of bright green, well that is because I used homemade delicious almond nut butter and it is a little darker in color. These Magic Matcha bars taste like a delicious blonde matcha brownie with a fudgy texture.

Magic Matcha bars are filled with high antioxidant matcha (green tea) , bananas, almond butter, vegan white chocolate chips and dusted in a little matcha powder. (Makes 8 squares)
- spray oil - to prevent the magic matcha bars from sticking to pan.
- bananas - 3 medium frozen bananas
- almond butter - 1 cup (or other nut butter of choice)
- matcha (green tea) - 4 heaping teaspoons
- white chocolate chips - 1/3 cup (I used vegan brand)
- strawberries - 2 sliced thinly for garnish (optional)
Step 1: Preheat oven to 190 degrees C (375 degrees F). Spray your loaf pan with oil to prevent your bars from sticking to the pan.
Step 2: Cut up your frozen bananas into slices. Put your frozen banana slices into the food processor and pulse until banana looks like fine grains of sand. Add almond butter and matcha (green tea) and pulse until well combined. Toss in a handful of white chocolate chips and mix with a spoon.
Step 3: Pour your magic matcha bar mix from your food processor and add to your loaf pan. Spread evenly.
Step 4: Bake your magic matcha bars for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow bars to cool completely and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Step 5: Slice your magic matcha bars into squares and enjoy the Hanami season!
